Interesting Facts:
  • Bully was "M" line bred to Ch. Widneland Kim (a son of Ch. Gentleman Jim). Ch. Widneland Kim was one of Lionel Hemstock's favourite dogs.
  • Bully sired many show winners including Ch. Jolihem Black Beauty (owner/breeders), Ch. Jubilant of Jolihem (owned by Ann and George Goddard), Ch. Lydes Winston Defiant (owned by Mrs. S. M. Fox), other famous descendants include Bates and Boam's Ch. Black Tusker.
  • Bully, a Junior Warrant winner,  gained his title in 1964 at the Three Counties Championship Show under Judge Bill Burrow. 1964 was the third successive year at which a Jolihem Stafford had gained its title at the Three Counties Ch. Show.
  • Bully was Best Puppy at Crufts in 1963 under judge Miss. Jordan MRCVS.
  • At the time he was made up he was the youngest Champion in the breed and held this record for many years.
  • In 1964 Bully won the East Mids SBTC Haynescot Chum Trophy and the Southern Counties SBTC Nita Weiler Memorial Trophy for the Stafford gaining most points in Breed Classes. He also won the North West SBTC Ebrey Salver for the Stafford winning most classes at all types of show (1963).
  • Bully was one of Jo Hemstock's favourites, for both his nature and his looks.
  • Bully was very striking in the Show Ring as he was jet black with a white front. He started the fashion for black brindle and white dogs and was described as a great dog who was "several decades before his time" by Abe Harkness in 1999.

Character:
Bully was very soft and forgiving but as he was always on the alert he made an excellent house dog. He was also very protective by nature, he would protect women, children and the family car - or whichever car he happened to be travelling in. He had a special attachment to Jo Hemstock. Jo would take Bully to bed with her when Lionel was working nights and she always felt safe with Bully in the house.
